Reverend Rosetta Gant-Swinton is the daughter of the late Mr. George Gant, Sr. and the late Mrs. Rosalee B. Gant. She was born and raised in Huger, South Carolina, and is a graduate of Cainhoy High School. She is the wife of Rev. Joseph Swinton Jr., newly retired AME Pastor.

Reverend Swinton furthered her education at several institutions. She earned an Associate Degree in Science and certification as a Clinical Laboratory Technician. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities with a concentration in Religion, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology, and a Master’s degree in Divinity with a minor in Counseling.

Reverend Swinton has worked as an educator in both the Berkeley and Charleston County School Districts. She is currently the pastor of New Greater St. John AME Church in Wando, South Carolina, where she enjoys serving and working with her congregation.

She previously served as the Coordinator of Women in Ministry for the Mount Pleasant District and is the former First Vice President of Women in Ministry for the Seventh Episcopal District.

Her life and ministry reflect not only her dedication but also her deep love for the Lord. She is committed to allowing the Lord to lead as she teaches and preaches the unadulterated Gospel. A spiritual leader and teacher, she passionately proclaims the Gospel of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Reverend Swinton’s vision for the new millennium is to remain focused on seeking the unsaved. She humbly views herself as a child of God, always seeking opportunities to serve Him on this journey.

A groundbreaking trailblazer, Pastor Swinton made history as the first female pastor in the AME Church to have a church built from the ground up. This remarkable accomplishment was made possible through her leadership and collaboration with the compassionate members of our congregation, who shared in her vision and worked tirelessly to bring it to life. Under her guidance, we have not only seen physical growth but spiritual growth as well, with many lives transformed through her powerful preaching, mentorship, and dedication to service.
